Should I add extra information in my translation?

Translating the term OSAMA BIN LADEN, I found out that the author did not write any date for his death, only his birthdate. I am translating it into Spanish, shoul I mention "may 2011"?

Hi Maria, In general you should keep the information in the translation as close to the source as possible. In this case the best solution would be to add the death date to the English source too :) -Adam

That's what I thought. But then, can I change the source text? How does it work with the copyright on termwiki?
